Doctor of Physical Therapy located in Milford, CT

About Dr. Veiras

Dr. Sophia Veiras is a compassionate and experienced physical therapist with special interests in orthopedics, sports medicine, and women’s health. She utilizes her high level of knowledge and competitive background in powerlifting and strength training to empower, educate, and enable individuals to achieve and maintain a healthy, pain-free lifestyle.

Dr. Veiras obtained her undergraduate in Rehabilitation Sciences from Northeastern University followed by a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and advanced graduate certificate in Orthopedics thereafter. While pursuing her degree, Dr. Veiras participated on the club wrestling and club powerlifting teams for the university. Through her own commitment to the technical components of each sport as well as accessory conditioning, Dr. Veiras was able to achieve All-American honors within each sport, winning a national championship as a wrestler and world championship as a powerlifter. She continues to train, compete, coach, and volunteer within the sport of powerlifting at local, regional, national, and international levels.

With Sophia’s participation and success in male-dominated sports came an observation of the unmet needs of the female athlete. Currently pursuing advanced knowledge in the field of women’s health physical therapy, Sophia hopes to integrate her specialized knowledge of orthopedics, sports medicine, and women’s health to address the unique needs of the female athlete as well as empower all females to be their strongest self. Sophia is presently spearheading our pre- and post- partum strengthening program to help facilitate improved outcomes with pregnancy-related pain as well as prepare mothers for the lifting demands of taking care of a newborn.

When not working as a physical therapist, strength coach, or training for powerlifting, Sophia enjoys hiking, camping, baking, and yoga.
